Alex Floro: Through the Lens of LEUNE

LEUNE loves when art merges with giving back, and the work of Alex Floro and her venture, Under New Mgmt, does this with tenacity and distinct flair. Stylist and friend of LEUNE, Bri Emery, caught up with Alex in her element, the two embarking on a floral-filled journey that is both playful and chic.

Defined as “Floral Experiences and Creative Production,” Floro’s work is as elegant as it is bold. We high-ly encourage you to scope the Under New Mgmt Instagram for some inspiration and plant-based eye candy. Truly stunning work.

Additionally, community support and social reform is actively part of Floro’s mission, the arc of which is best described on their site:

"To be completely honest, Under New MGMT was started in the back of a U-Haul van, running on 2 hours of sleep and covered in sand. There needed to be a better way to thrive in the industry we loved so much.

Underpaid (the job we were on was a favor) and overworked, we’ve witnessed first hand the untapped creative potential of the events and floral labor force. We wanted to employ and work alongside with the true powerhouses… and thus UnderNewMGMT was born.

We at UnderNewMGMT seek to shift traditional industry power structures by exclusively hiring and collaborating with individuals from the POC, immigrants, women, and members of the LGBTQ+ communities.

We seek to take up as much bright, loud space as possible.

We are as much dedicated to the floral world as we are to providing creative & long-lasting solutions to help maintain our beautiful local communities. We currently run a mutual aid project The People’s Bodega - which provides nutrition and protest supplies wherever needed. We have active projects working in the Los Angeles area and New York area.

We constantly develop new designs that utilize vintage and recycled materials to provide our clients with unique, sustainable event and floral options. We avoid using single use floral foam and other non-renewable materials whenever possible. Our events seek to tell stories and uplift communities.”

This, friends, is how it’s done. Visit undernewmgmt.co for more on Alex and the epic life happening at Under New Mgmt.
