THCV

THCV (tetrahydrocannabivarin) is a lesser-known cannabinoid found in the cannabis plant that’s quickly gaining attention in the world of cannabis. Unlike THC, which is known for its psychoactive effects, THCV is believed to have a variety of potential benefits without the “high” (in some cases).

THCV is a naturally occurring compound found in cannabis. Like THC and CBD, THCV interacts with the body's endocannabinoid system but is equipped with a different molecular structure, resulting in its unique effects. While THC is known for its psychoactive properties, THCV has a reputation for suppressing the psychoactive effects of THC. This means that strains of cannabis with higher levels of THCV may provide a more clear-headed, energetic experience compared to strains with high levels of THC.

Research on the potential health benefits of THCV is still in the early stages, but some promising results have emerged :

  • Appetite suppression: THCV has been shown to have appetite-suppressing effects, making it a potential treatment for obesity and related conditions.

  • Diabetes management: THCV has been shown to help regulate blood sugar levels, making it a potential treatment for diabetes.

  • Anxiety relief: Some studies suggest that THCV may have anxiolytic properties, making it a potential treatment for anxiety disorders.

  • Bone growth: THCV has been shown to promote bone growth, making it a potential treatment for osteoporosis and other bone-related conditions.

More and more THCV-forward products are hitting the market, and as stigma fades and more research receives the greenlight, THCV’s potential applications (along with ways to enjoy it recreationally!) will continue to come to light.
